About us

A short History:

Steelborn Pastoral Co. was founded in 2021 as a way to showcase the horses Bonnie was educating and showing, alongside a small Black Angus stud. What started as a small-scale venture quickly evolved. Together Will and Bonnie, turned a shared passion into something bigger—expanding Steelborn Pastoral into a dedicated Black and Red Angus stud, focused on producing high-quality, functional cattle. A major step in our growth came when we secured key breeding females from the Yallambee Angus Dispersal sale, strengthening our program with proven genetics.
From the beginning, we have been committed to building our herd on strong maternal foundations. Our original Black Angus females trace back to the Ben Nevis Jean H215 cow, a line known for its structural correctness, and exceptional maternal traits. These qualities remain at the heart of our breeding philosophy as we work to produce cattle that are not only functional but also excel in both commercial and stud operations.
While our primary focus is now on cattle, we still make time to turn out one or two quality performance horses each year. 2025 is set to be an exciting year for us, with two qualifications to Equimillions and some highly anticipated mares in foal.
Beyond breeding, Will and Bonnie are deeply passionate about supporting the next generation in agriculture. Each year, we take ballot animals to the Angus Youth Roundup, giving young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cattle. We know firsthand how hard it can be to break into the industry, so we are committed to providing learning opportunities and support for those who want to get involved.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that private female sales will be available soon. To help young breeders get started, we will be offering a youth discount—because we believe that investing in the next generation is just as important as investing in great cattle.
